What to expect
InTheRoom is the Black Students Network's flagship Black History Month celebration — a cultural evening bringing together Black students from across Bournemouth University to connect, share, and celebrate community. The theme "Honoring Our Communities" anchors the evening's conversations and activities, exploring Black identity, heritage, and the futures we are building together.
The event features two (2) panel discussions, an open mic discussion circle, interactive cultural icebreakers, and a spoken word/poetry competition open to all students. The evening closes with music and dancing, turning reflection into celebration.
Poetry Competition: Performers may sign up in advance or on the day. Each piece is capped at 3 minutes and judged on delivery, originality, and theme relevance. Results will be announced at the close of the competition.
