What is SWSS? 

A student-led Marxist organisation, the Socialist Worker Student Society (SWSS) are the largest local group campaigning against exploitation, oppression and environmental destruction. In our view, poverty, racism, climate change and many other of the injustices present in society are rooted in Capitalism; the only solution, to dismantle this repressive and catastrophic system from the bottom up through revolution, forming a new society free from the control of billionaires and bosses.

Why join our organisation? 

Are you a committed socialist? Are you passionate about campaigning on important socio-political issues? Are you interested in learning more about Marxism? Or perhaps you just want to socialist with likeminded individuals? If any of these apply to you, the Socialist Worker Student Society is the perfect place for you! As well as being part of the leading student voice fighting for change in Bournemouth, you'll also have a platform to both learn more about our ideas and the ability to express your own, whilst actively taking part in demonstrations and spreading the word on the street.

What's involved?

As an SWSS member, you'll have plenty to get involved in! We host meetings every fortnight (Thursday) with speakers coming in for a variety of different topics, followed by a walk to the pub afterwards for a drink and a chat. Linked with the Socialist Worker Party (SWP), they also host similar meetings on the opposing weeks, giving you the opportunity to mix with a variety of people of all different ages and backgrounds! Every Saturday we also run a stall with the SWP in Bournemouth Square, campaigning on different issues and spreading the word. Furthermore, we do flyposting, take part in demonstrations, and cooperate with other groups such as Stand Up To Racism, Extinction Rebellion (XR) and more. We also hope to host a variety of different socials this year too, so make sure to keep up to date with our events by following our socials!
